Prepare for your procedure

Before the procedure

Take the prescribed medications, generally one hour before the procedure begins.

Eat normally, particularly on the morning of the procedure

Common post-operative effects

🩸 Slight oozing or bleeding for 24 to 48 hours.

😖 Gradual onset of pain as the anaesthesia wears off.

🧊 Post-operative swelling , usually peaking between day 2 and day 3.

😬 Temporary limitation in mouth opening..

Post-operative instructions

Do not spit or rinse your mouth during the first 48 hours.

 If bleeding occurs:

Apply a clean gauze pad over the wound.

Bite firmly for 10 minutes without interruption.

Take painkillers before the onset of pain for optimal effectiveness.

Apply an ice pack (wrapped in a clean cloth) to the operated area immediately after the procedure.

Repeat in cycles of maximum 20 minutes, several times a day during the first day.

Maintain good hygiene by gently brushing the teeth near the operated area.

If an antiseptic mouthwash is prescribed, use it gently: avoid swishing it forcefully so as not to disturb healing or trigger further bleeding.

Avoid any physical or sporting activity for 48 hours.

Optimise your comfort

Before the procedure: can be worn 1 to 3 nights to promote more comfortable breathing and better quality sleep.
 
On the day of surgery: depending on your situation, they may be used during the procedure to optimise breathing comfort.
